Abuser ‘danger to his wife’

-

A DOMESTIC abuser has been warned his attitude must change after he was branded a danger to his wife.

Marius Cioromela from Kirriemuir appeared for sentence before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar after previously admitting offences including behaving in a threatening manner towards the woman at a house on Ogilvy Place, Arbroath, on October 20 last year, a breach of the peace in The Den, Kirriemuir, on June 23 and failing to appear in court on August 6.

Depute fiscal Laura McGillvery said the Crown had investigated the possibility of a non-harassment order to protect Cioromela’s partner but she had indicated she did not want that to be put in place.

Sheriff Gregor Murray t ol d the 40-year-old accused, of Knowehead Crescent: “Everything in the social work report suggests to me you are a man who’s dangerous to your wife.

“It is very clearly indicated that you won’t be able to comply with a supervision requirement, in other words they think you will not be able to do what is needed to focus on your offending.”

The sheriff added: “I am prepared to put you on a community payback order with a review in a short time.

“If you don’t knuckle down and agree what’s being requested of you, you will be going to jail.”

Dundee City Council leader John Alexander has expressed his excitement about the event.

He said: “I met BBC representatives to discuss our involvement on August 7 last year, at which point Dundee was one of a few potential host locations.

“As you can imagine, it’s been a nightmare keeping tight-lipped.
