Taletta was crucial to new online resource, say education chiefs

-

TALETTA Jamieson was an integral part of setting up a new online resource designed to help parents and children better understand the subject choices faced by senior pupils i n D u n d e e ’s secondary schools.

The resource, which came out of a meeting between secondary school parent council representatives and Taletta, is to go live on the council’s website today.

Speaking of the new venture, Danny Webster – an education manager at the council – explained: “The project is part of Dundee’s commitment to raise attainment and improve outcomes.

“One way of doing that is to diversify the curriculum, and national qualifications are only a small part of what we offer.

“What the resource demonstrates is t he range that is available for young people now.

“And t eachers and people like myself are aware of what these are, when the pupils go home and have a conversation with their parents, the adults don’t always know what they are.

“It’s about how we can help parents better understand what is a changing landscape.”

Paul Clancy, the executive director of the children and families service, praised the work Taletta did in helping with the project.

He added: “Taletta was such an important part of this service.

“She was that link with parents that you need, she solved problems and she provided tremendous communication for what the parents wanted.

“She always felt the more information you provided parents with and the more you involved them, the better the relationship was and the better the outcomes could be.”
