Agent: Bale to Spurs is a no-go

GARETH Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett says he does not think his client will ever return to Tottenham.

The Wales internatio­nal left Spurs for Real Madrid in 2013 for a then world-record £85 million.

But there has not been a transfer window gone by in recent years without him being linked with a return to north London.

Barnett says a move back to Spurs is not likely.

Asked whether it will ever happen, he said: “I don’t think so, no.

“He’s in a very fortunate position.

“Gareth is very happy over there.

“And let’s be realistic, for most clubs he is out of their league, financiall­y.

“It is all well and good to say ‘go and give up that money and go and play somewhere else’ but it is not all about money.

“It is about his lifestyle and his children, who have grown up in Madrid.”

Sterling was lucky to avoid a red card in Spurs’ 2-0 win over City on Sunday when he went in studs-up on his England team-mate and caught him above the ankle.

Referee Mike Dean only awarded a yellow card and VAR did not overrule him.

Alli initially played on as Spurs won the game through goals from debutant Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min before limping off in the final 10 minutes.

The 23-year-old is an early doubt for tomorrow’s FA Cup replay against Southampto­n but is still mates with Sterling.

“We will see how it is but, hopefully, it is not too bad,” Alli said of the injury.
