Bankies move up as ’Burgh slip

IN the DSMFL Premier Division, DUSC’s lead at the top was pegged back following their 3-2 defeat to Dryburgh, who climb to fifth.

Bank St Athletic’s 7-1 win over Occidental sees them level on points at the top with a game in hand on DUSC.

The other two top-flight games were tight affairs with Cairdy Thistle sharing six goals with Riverside CSC, while Park Tool drew 1-1 with The Maidens.

In the Riverview Utilities 1st Division Cup, The Beat ensured they join FC Spartak in the semi-finals after an easy 9-0 win over a Club 83 side who have recruited heavily over the break from the youth ranks but are still to find their feet in the amateur game.

North End Amateurs’ 4-1 win over Kelso means both teams stay in the chase for the last semi-final place alongside the Medics.

Powrie have already guaranteed they are in the semis from that group and will play The Beat.

Clark’s and FC Sporting saw out a 4-1 win in a group dead rubber with both teams already out.

Sporting had led 1-0 at the break before Clark’s upped their game.

In the Riverview Utilities First Division, FC Spartak dropped their first points of the season, losing 3-2 to Dundee West.

Keir Murray had hit West’s opener before Mark McCallum added to his earlier goal with a superb free-kick ensuring his team remain in the title chase.

Powrie took advantage of Spartak’s loss, winning by the same 3-2 margin over DUMS.

In the Trident Trophies Second Division Cup, Athletico Monifieth booked their semi-final against Whitfield Tavern this weekend with a narrow 2-1 win over Abertay Uni.

The other semi sees Craigie FC meet Kirkton.

Kirkton and Whitfield Tavern now look to be in a two-horse race for the league title after both secured comfortabl­e wins at the weekend.

Whitfield stay top with a point advantage and a game in hand following their 9-1 victory over bottom club Lochee Albion, while Kirkton’s 5-1 win over Lochee Celtic keeps them in the chase.
