A DELIGHTED OAP has won lifetime membership of the V&A with free entry to every exhibition.

Museum bosses celebrated welcoming their millionth visitor by teaming up with the Tele to offer one lucky person a lifetime Family and Friends ticket for up to four people.

Lois Morrison, 87, from Dryburgh, scooped the prize when her name was drawn from the hat.

She said: “It’s great to win and I think the V&A is a really interesting place.

“It is also on a very nice spot on the riverfront. I have been on a conducted tour and I have visited about half a dozen times.

“There have been some really good exhibitions and my favourite one so far has been the shipping display.

“The V&A is a great place and you can even just go in for a meal.”

Lois, a retired civil servant, has eight great-grandchildren and said she will have plenty of offers to accompany her to the popular museum.

“My great-grandchildren will all get a turn to visit the V&A with me, along with other members of the family,” she said.

Lois said she is keen to visit the Mary Quant exhibition which will be the first fashion display to be unveiled at the V&A when it opens on April 4.

Her lifetime Family and Friends membership also includes a selection of other benefits.

These include 10% discount in the V&A Dundee shops and 10% discount on food and drink, plus a 25% discount on entry to the exhibitions at the V&A in South Kensington.

Tele editor Dave Lord said: “Congratulations to our winner Lois.

“If the early exhibitions are anything to go by there is going to be a steady supply of really fascinating material at the V&A. A lifetime membership is a cracking prize that should bring benefits for many years to come.

“The V&A is great for Dundee’s image on a national and even global stage, but it is also a facility for locals to visit on a far more frequent basis.

“Many congratulations to Lois and thanks to all who took part.”

V&A director Philip Long said: “It was very exciting to welcome our millionth visitor recently, just over 500 days after opening.

“Congratulations to our prize winner and her family, who will be able to enjoy every exhibition at V&A Dundee for free.”
