- BY JUNICUS

BROUGH T Y At h let ic a re keeping their fingers crossed it will be a case of third time lucky tomorrow as they try to get their Scottish Cup quarter-final played against Darvel.

The Fed now know who at least two of their potential opponents might be if they manage to win in Ayrshire.

Both Pollok and Beith won their respective ties last Saturday and either cup favourites Auchinleck Talbot or Hurlford will make up the last four.

Broughty striker Josh Skelly is definitely out while manager Jamie McCunnie is awaiting fitness tests on a few other players.

Broughty’s cup-tie was bad news for Lochee United, who were due to play the Fed in the league at Thomson Park.

However, the Bluebells now face their third blank Saturday in a row.

Meanwhile, Carnoustie will be looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Super League to 11 points should they win at Scone Thistle.

The Gowfers have a 100% record in their previous two meetings this season, winning 6-0 and 5-0, with both games at Laing Park.

Despite this one being at Farquharson Park, the odds would seem to favour another Carnoustie victory.

Carnoustie have a full pool apart from the suspended Ryan Roche.

This is Thistle’s recently-appointed manager Paul Martin’s first game in charge and it is certainly a tough baptism.

Tayport, one of only two local clubs to manage a game last week, play host to North End.

The Fifers were thrashed 7-3 when the pair last met but have shown signs of improvement since. With Ryan Suttie now free of suspension, ’Port have a full pool available.

Dokens boss Tony McAulay is hoping the break has allowed a few niggling injuries among his players to clear up.

Downfield host Luncarty.

The Spiders will be looking for a repeat of the 2-0 victory when the sides last met.

However, Bleachers boss Robbie Holden is seeking a fourth-straight win since taking charge.

Apart from suspended skipper Stuart Nicol, Holden’s side will be on their usual lines.

Westview hosts a basement battle with second-bottom Kirrie Thistle welcoming stragglers Forfar West End.

With the first meeting having ended 3-3 and just two points separating the sides, plus West End having a game in hand, a tense battle is in prospect, never mind it being a local derby.

Ryan Cormack and Dino Leddie are ruled out of Thistle’s squad, while West End, who defeated Montrose Roselea 2-0 in a friendly on Monday, have a full squad of 18 available.
