Streak of clean sheets a joint effort says Dark Blues coach Mackay

-

DUNDEE’S streak of clean sheets is a “joint effort” according to first-team coach Dave Mackay.

The Dark Blues haven’t conceded since t heir February 1 trip to Morton, the day Christophe Berra made his debut after joining from Hearts on loan.

While Mackay agrees the Scotland international has made a huge impact, the rest of the Dens backline has stepped up, too.

He said: “Christophe’s arrival has coincided with the good run of form and clean sheets.

“Having him at the club with his experience has been massive for us.

“You don’t play at the level he has played at during his career without being a top player.

“Yes, he might not be as quick as he once was but you never lose the game intelligence and organisational skills he’s got.

“Again, though, I would say that it’s not just all down to him and he would be the first to say that.

“For example, Jordon Forster has been exceptional and Josh Meekings has come back in as well. The three of them have been great together.

“I would also mention Conor Hazard behind them because, even though he has not had much to do, he has looked very comfortable.

“It is a joint effort.”

The club have issued a statement urging fans with symptoms of a cold or flu to stay away from tomorrow’s home match with Dunfermline. This will stay in place until further notice (see p4&5).

For Dundee players and personnel it is business as usual until told otherwise.

Mackay added: “It is just the same as it has been – coming in and working away as normal.

“Obviously, things can change and, as you can see at the minute, the situation appears to be moving pretty quickly. A lot of things like sporting events closing down could become a problem in the near future.”
