Club in discussion with insurer over fan refunds

-

DUNDEE FC remains in discussions with its insurance company as it l ooks to offer season ticket holders guidance on refunds for the 2019/20 season.

The last campaign was cut short due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Other clubs in Scotland have offered refunds for games as well as exclusive deals after a number of games were cancelled.

But Dundeee have yet to offer clarity to supporters, with a spokesman insisting the club was hopeful of reaching out to supporters in the near future.

He said: “In relation to last season, the club is in ongoing discussions with our insurance company and will update on refunds when we are in the position to do so.

“For the upcoming season, no decisions have been made on start dates yet.

“Once those decisions are made we will be in a better place to look at the situation.”

Many fans have been anxious to hear about the issue from the club.

Season ticket holder Derek Bremner, from Coldside, said he was pleased supporters had been given an update.

He said: “I’m pleased to hear the club has come out with a statement in regards to this.

“It wasn’t so much about getting the money back but rather the lack of communication. If the club does start to issue refunds I would probably donate the cash to the DFC In The Community Trust.”

Dundee played a key role in the decision-making process to end the 2019/20 season and had the casting vote in ending the campaign.

A start date for the 2020/21 Championship season has yet to be confirmed, with the Premiership aiming to begin on August 1.
