Appalled by the council salaries

-

I AM appalled and disgusted to see the level of salaries being paid by Dundee City Council.

The city is reeling in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and was struggling prior to it.

Parents are struggling to provide for their families with concerns over rent/mortgage payments, food, utility payments and job uncertainty.

Wages of this level are wholly unacceptable. Earning half these wages would still be a fantastic amount.

The city is having to make savage cuts across all its services yet somehow these, I’m sure, hard-working individuals will take home these salaries.

No wonder the books can’t be balanced.

Fair salaries for all matter.

HARD WORKING DUNDONIAN

■ WHAT do these people actually do? Are they really important in their departments? Is their input making policy or do the relative staff keep these departments working anyway?

Cutting services and staff at basic levels is the usual way these fat cat leaders keep the books balanced.

Maybe someday they will realise that it is the plebs who actually pay their wages and can sweep them aside at the ballot box.

IRATE TAX PAYER.

■ I do not understand why a small city like Dundee has so many, vastly overpaid, council staff when they are increasing rents and council tax beyond the inflation rate and cutting so many services.

I would like them to justify their job roles and salaries to the people of Dundee.

A STRUGGLING COUNCIL TENANT
