Stay safe and buy local

-

THERE was more good news this week as the tentative steps out of lockdown continued.

The opening of pubs and restaurants – at least in some form – is on the horizon.

Countless businesses will be breathing a huge sigh of relief, though sadly not all will survive to reap the potential benefits.

The path from lockdown has been slow and, at times, painful but there is little doubt people are ready to embrace their newfound freedoms.

Already there are signs that locals are keen to return to the high street, with a near 30,000 increase in the number of people visiting the city centre last week (see page 6).

It may not look the same – as from tomorrow face coverings will be mandatory in all stores – but it seems the lure of shopping is strong indeed.

It goes without saying Dundee’s businesses will need every bit of support they can get in the coming weeks and months.

Staying safe and buying local is a fine message.
