Accused of smashing window with brick

A SHERIFF has ordered a takeaway boss to stand trial over allegation­s that he launched a brick through a window in Stobswell.

Ghulam Bajwa, of Brown Constable Street, is accused of committing the offence at an address on the same street on July 2.

Bajwa, who runs Curryummy on Strathmart­ine Road, continued to make no plea in connection with the allegation­s when he appeared on petition from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Prosecutor­s allege that Bajwa culpably and recklessly threw a brick through the window of a house which caused glass to shatter and the brick to enter the room.

This was allegedly to the danger of the occupants.

Bajwa, 40, is also accused of committing the offence while subject to two bail orders from May and September last year.

Following his appearance via video link from HMP Perth, Bajwa was remanded in custody by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael who fully committed him for trial.

SENSE Scotland will reopen its Dundee shop on Thursday – and is expecting a surge in donations.
