Tributes to Fi: ‘She leaves a huge hole in our hearts’

- BY SARAH WILLIAMSON

TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-known cancer campaigner who has died.

Fi Munro, from Errol, lost her battle with stage four ovarian cancer earlier this month after being diagnosed in 2016.

After building up a huge following on social media, Fi announced on June 30 that she had stopped her cancer treatment.

She died on July 7.

Her husband Ewan announced the news on Facebook yesterday and paid tribute to his wife, calling her a “huge inspiration”.

He said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must tell you that my beautiful Fi has left us.

“She passed peacefully on July 7 surrounded by the enormous love of her family.

“A private funeral service has taken place, she is now at peace.

“She has been such a huge inspiration to all those around her, filling the space with love, compassion, fun and a little bit of swearing!

“I know she has been an incredible support to all of you out there who follow her on Instagram, Facebook and her blog, and she leaves a huge hole in all our hearts.

“I hope that wherever she is that she gets her wish, to be reunited with friends and family lost, and to have the most amazing time with them all.”

Award-winning blogger Fi has spent time campaigning in the four years since her diagnosis, raising awareness of cancer and some of the issues facing patients in the process.

Ewan encouraged those who followed Fi’s journey to use her social media presence to remember her.

He said: “Let your love for Fi continue, all her social media will remain for you to look back on fondly.

“Her family intend to keep our love for her alive through random acts of kindness, so when we feel able we’d like to do something special in her honour.

“This will be posted when the time is right.

“Until then, keep doing the special little things: phone a pal, leave flowers on a bench, buy someone a coffee – do whatever you can to make someone else smile.

“Please respect our family’s grief at this heartbreaking time.

“Much love and light to you all.”
