Woman denies attacking man on city street

A WOMAN is to stand trial over allegations she attacked a man with a flask before discussing the prospect of abducting him.

Claire Lizanec, of Ann Street, is accused of assaulting John Darke on February 26 on Blackness Road by striking him on the head with a thermos flask. She denies grabbing him by the hair, repeatedly banging his head off a wall, forcing his head down, repeatedly kicking and punching his head and body before headbutting him.

Lizanec is also accused of stealing a mobile phone before acting with two others in discussing the prospect of abducting Mr Darke and taking him to England in a van.

Defence solicitor David Duncan tendered a plea of not guilty on behalf of the 39-year-old, who was not present when the case called at Dundee Sheriff Court. A trial was fixed for January.

A FIFE man has been accused of carrying out a glass attack on a 73-year-old man and causing him to suffer permanent disfigurement.

George Cant, of Riverside Gardens, Wormit, is alleged to have caused severe injury to Allan Smith at the same address on July 20.

It is alleged Cant punched Mr Smith on the head before striking him on the head with a glass bottle This allegedly caused him to fall and suffer severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.

Cant, 51, made no plea when he appeared on petition from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court. His case was continued for further examination by Sheriff John Rafferty. Cant was released on bail.

A PRISONER has been accused of spraying bleach in the face of a fellow inmate.

Matthew McLachlan allegedly attacked Thomas Reid within HMP Perth on May 17. McLachlan is accused of repeatedly spraying bleach or a similar liquid onto Mr Reid’s face to his injury. The 44-year-old made no plea during his appearance on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court.

McLachlan had his case continued for further examination by Sheriff John Rafferty, who remanded him in custody.

Dundee Sheriff Court
