Trial over ‘child’ sex messages

A MAN accused of sending sexual messages to a person he thought was a child will stand trial next year.

George Fox, 61, is accused of committing the offence on various occasions between May 4-13 last year at his home address on Mossgiel Place and elsewhere.

Prosecutor­s allege he sent a person that he believed was under the age of 13 sexual, written communicat­ions. It is alleged the person was actually an adult woman acting as a decoy.

Fox allegedly sent repeated sexual communicat­ions and repeatedly tried to communicat­e indecently with a child.

After entering a plea of not guilty by letter at Dundee Sheriff Court, Fox had a trial fixed for January.

A WOMAN allegedly suffered severe injury after being punched and headbutted by a man in Forfar. Liam Pytlak, of Restenneth Drive, is accused of carrying out the attack at an address on Dundee Road on Saturday.

He allegedly assaulted Tracey McKenzie by repeatedly punching her on the head, trying to strike her on the head with his knee and repeatedly headbuttin­g her. It is alleged this caused her to suffer severe injury and permanent disfigurem­ent. Pytlak, 22, is also accused of lashing out at police officers at Forfar Police Station on West High Street.

At Dundee Sheriff Court, Pytlak made no plea when he appeared on petition from custody. Sheriff Alastair Carmichael released him on bail after continuing the case for further examinatio­n.

A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the attempted rape of a woman. Liam Smith, of Aboyne Avenue, is accused of sexually assaulting the woman at an address in Alyth on July 31.

It is alleged he committed the offence by repeatedly placing his hand on her pyjama bottoms, trying to touch her indecently, removing her lower clothing and climbing on top of her. Prosecutor­s allege Smith, 24, attempted to rape the woman. Smith made no plea when he appeared from custody on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Sheriff George Way continued the case and released Smith on bail.

WORK has begun to complete “pocket gardens” at Slessor Gardens as landscapin­g progresses around Dundee Waterfront.

Three plots at the south-east corner of the open-air space are being dug up to complete the squared garden areas.

The west side of Slessor Gardens was completed several years ago, but the south-east corner was not. The gardens are expected to be similar to the ones already in place.
