It’s all-change up top for Dundee after day of drama

-

our background work already done on Alex and Danny Mullen, we had already identified those two and we are delighted to bring both to the club.

“We are grateful to the staff and players who recently took part in the financial restructuring process as well as the outstanding effort from the fans.

“The most important thing above all else is we want people who are fully committed to the club.

“I’m happy that the players and staff who are now at the club have shown that this is the case.”

Dundee’s finances have been hit hard since the global pandemic halted the 2019/20 season, with managing director John Nelms putting cost-cutting measures in place at first-team and academy level to safeguard the future of the club.

McPake says the response from the players and the fans – who have rallied to raise money for the Championship side – to the difficulties facing the Dark Blues has generated a “feel-good factor”.

He told DeeTV: “Like everything that’s happening, it’s changing daily.

“What I will say is the response from the players and the fans, there is a feel-good factor, which feels strange to say.

“I feel good being back around the place. I know the players are itching to get back but there are protocols and measures (to be gone through).

“What we have is time on our side to prepare for a season. The important thing we said was getting a date for the season to start but we are governed by the other people that make decisions.

“We are doing what is the safest for Dundee Football Club and what we feel will benefit Dundee Football Club the most.

“In terms of my planning, I’m very happy with the way things are going and everyone else is fit and healthy which is also important.”

McPake also hailed the arrival of Danny Mullen earlier this week.

Mullen, 25, has signed a two-year deal after leaving St Mirren.

The Dee gaffer said: “First and foremost what he will bring is goals.

“He scores different types of goals. He does the horrible side of being a striker very well, the side that his team-mates appreciate.

“He is a team player but he has real quality as well. “
