Accused of throwing rock at cash machine

A MAN accused of throwing a rock at a cash machine after trying to use a woman’s bank card had his case continued.

Michael Tarbett allegedly tried to use the woman’s card with the intent of stealing at the TSB ATM on High Street, Lochee, on August 27.

The 32-year-old then allegedly kicked the machine before throwing a rock at it.

Tarbett, of Balmoral Terrace, was not present when the case called at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Jillian MartinBrow­n continued the case without plea until January.

AN underage driver allegedly stole a van before crashing into two other vehicles.

Prosecutor­s allege the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been drinking at the time of the collisions between September 4-5.

The teen allegedly stole the van from Mains Loan on September 4 before driving it on Baxter Park Terrace and Cunningham Street without being old enough to hold a licence.

It is alleged the youth drove without insurance before colliding with two vehicles and failing to stop.

The teen allegedly gave a reading to police of 40 mics of alcohol in 100 mls of breath, exceeding the limit of 22 mics.

Following a motion by defence solicitor Ross Bennett, the teen’s case at Dundee Sheriff Court was continued without plea until next month.

A TRIAL has been fixed for a man accused of stealing two motorbikes after breaking into stables.

Robert Allan allegedly broke into an outbuildin­g at Blue House Stables, Radernie, Cupar, on May 12.

He denies stealing two motorbikes, a helmet, motorbike leathers, a chainsaw and a bag of tools.

The 37-year-old, of Poplar Road, Methil, was not present when the case against him called at Dundee Sheriff Court.

A letter was submitted to the court from his solicitors pleading not guilty.

Allan will stand trial in July.

A DUNDEE gardener has donated more than 500 essentials to Dundee Foodbank, equal to nearly a quarter-tonne of food.

Craig Lafferty, who owns Lafferty Gardening, decided to rally support from among his customers and local business to provide the food to those in need this Christmas.

He said: “I started the collection on November 14 and asked my customers if they could donate anything to go towards the foodbank.

“I also received a number of donations from local businesses.
