Driver, 76, faces trial over fatal crash with cyclist

-

A 76-YEAR-OLD man has been accused of concealing damage on his car after being involved in a fatal collision.

Ian McFarlane is charged with failing to stop at the scene of the accident on the A917 Elie to St Monans road on July 8 2019.

The pensioner’s case at Dundee Sheriff Court has been continued to a further hearing next year.

Scott Walker, a 43-yearold cyclist, was found critically injured on the road and died in hospital.

McFarlane, of Dundee’s Muirton Road, faces two charges on indictment at the city’s sheriff court.

He allegedly failed to stop and provide his details after an accident involving Mr Walker.

Between July 8-17 2019, McFarlane allegedly attempted to pervert the course of justice on the same road as well as at Arnotts garage, Brown Street, and Arnold Clark, Dock Street.

Prosecutors allege that in the knowledge of the collision that resulted in Mr Walker’s death, McFarlane failed to report it to the police, instructed repair work to conceal damage on his vehicle and ordered replacement parts.

Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC fixed a further first diet for May.

A MAN allegedly threatened to delete pictures of his ex-partner’s dead daughter during an abusive course of conduct.

Graeme Dickson allegedly behaved abusively towards the woman on Ancrum Court between April 1 and May 9.

It is alleged that the 26-year-old shouted, swore, threatened violence, refused to let the woman leave and grabbed her mobile phone.

Dickson allegedly repeatedly refused to return the phone and threatened to delete pictures of the woman’s deceased daughter.

He is also accused of threatening to murder the woman.

At Dundee Sheriff Court, Dickson had a plea of not guilty tendered on his behalf by solicitor John Boyle.

A further first diet was fixed for February.

THE first Covid-19 vaccinations have been delivered to residents and staff in Balhousie North Inch care home in Perth as the vaccination programme rolls out in care homes across Tayside.

Fay Mackay, 81, a resident at the Perth home, was one of the first care home residents to receive the Pfizer vaccine in Tayside.

She said: “It’s just a wise thing to do. I think it’s silly to refuse it just in case it spreads.”

Balhousie Care Group operations manager Emma Roberts was also vaccinated.
