McCunnie seeks Fed focus to end year on high

-

AFTER winning their last three matches, Broughty Athletic will head to Strathmore Park, Forfar, tomorrow full of confidence they can keep the run going – and manager Jamie McCunnie is determined his players don’t slip up in their final game of the year.

“We have played well in our last three games but we now need to concentrate on this final fixture and pick up a big three points against a West End side that is improving all the time, so this will be a difficult game for us,” said the Fed manager.

His pool is strengthened with the return of Graham Hay and Kieran Conway.

Despite going down to Broughty last week, Violet boss Andy Heggie thought his side equipped themselves well and could have taken something from the game.

The defeat hasn’t dampened their confidence though and they are looking forward to locking horns with Downfield and have a full squad available.

Spiders boss Paul Marr will make a late selection as he contemplates changes following last week’s disappointing draw with Brechin Vics. After two excellent opening wins the Spiders were off the pace last week and Marr will be looking for a big improvement.

New Harp manager Jay Smart is still looking for his first win and despite last week’s heavy defeat from Carnoustie he remains confident the tide will soon turn and hopes he can break his duck at Arbroath Vics.

Smart felt they matched the Gowfers for spells in the game but were punished for basic defensive errors.

They have been working hard in training this week to eradicate the problems and if they can keep it tight at the back they could pick up the points.
