Drivers failing to stay at home

-

THE “stay at home” message appears to be having less effect on Dundee drivers, as data reveals traffic is substantially higher than during the first lockdown.

THE Scottish SPCA has reported a 134% increase in people looking to give up unwanted animals.

“That is shocking. A pet is for life and is part of the family. You don’t give them up because you are fed up and bored.”

“This is just so sad. A pet is for life.”

“There has also been an increase in the number of animals adopted during lockdown being abandoned or returned to rescues.”

“So sad. A pet is for life – they give so much love.”

“It’s because most workplaces are still open and some employers are less ‘willing’ to let those that can work from home. Only the hospitality/retail/entertainment industries are shut. It’s not rocket science.”

“Surely that’s to do with employers putting things in place for working from home or furlough? People can’t just stay at home and lose their jobs.”

“Arbroath today was mental with cars, trying to do roadworks, but just like nothing is going on. Tesco and Morrisons car parks were full.

No one was staying home.”

“It never has been and never will be a full lockdown so roads are always going to be busy.”

“How are people meant to stay at home if they’re still expected to work?”

“I can go online and buy almost anything on click and collect, where before you couldn’t. Some are using a trip to a supermarket, B&Q etc as a day out. And households are still mixing – not every car will be for work or essential travel.”

“The simple solution is to use cameras and impose fines.”

“There’s a surprise.

AT least £20 million is needed to tackle Scotland’s drug deaths crisis, Scottish Labour’s health spokeswoman Monica Lennon said.

“They spend a lot more on methadone each year keeping the users addicted. And the valium prescribed is just sold on, you see them selling all the time in town. Why not put that money into recovery centres?”

“More than money is needed. Only radical drug reform and decriminalisation will help.”

“Decriminalisation is the only way to stop the associated crime. Treat it as a public health emergency.”
