More affordable housing needed

-

DUNDEE City Council is set to spend

£5.5 million to prevent homelessness after the number of people without permanent accommodation sky-rocketed.

SCOTLAND was never close to eliminating coronavirus at any stage of the pandemic, a scientific adviser has said.

“Round about way of saying, they were wrong.”

“The virus will probably never be eliminated, but hopefully we can build up a better immunity to it, or at least bring it to a level where we can survive alongside it. We can never forget our loved ones who have succumbed to it, heartbreaking for all concerned.”

“I know this has been so, so hard not seeing loved ones but look we’re all winning, we will soon be able to hug loved ones. I just miss the bingo.”

CALUM BRUNTON:

“A lot more affordable housing is required. All they have succeeded in doing is turning the multis, which were great houses, into ghettos so nobody wants to live in them. Shocking in my opinion.”

STEVE KEEN:

“Why not turn the new building across from the V& A into a homeless hostel? It’s been empty for nearly two years now, better going to a good use.”

CAROL DUNCAN:

“All talk with that lot just looking for votes – get them out.”

SARAH FINA ALISON:

“Turn Soapwork Lane into flats for them. Never understand why they closed it down.”

BILL DUTHIE:

“There is going to be plenty of empty shops in the town centre, turn them into flats.”

COLIN JAMES MILLIGAN:

“I watched something on the TV and they made accommodation out of large storage containers – amazing way to help people.”

JAN BROWN:

“Use the money to build larger houses – four-plus bedrooms – as there is a lack of these in the council’s housing stock available for larger families.”

SCOTT KYLES:

“It’s not just about being homeless. Not only do you need to provide homes for these people, you need to provide support for the addictions a lot of them have and support them into work or education so they are not dependent on benefits. Happy with my taxes going towards helping people who need it, but I don’t like supporting the lazy and uninspired.”

FRESH calls have been made to stump up cash for a new primary school in Dundee’s Western Gateway.

“Can’t see it happening. It’s not on Dundee’s Waterfront so the council won’t be interested in the other 90% off the city.

“Here’s your weekly instalment of Dundee’s very own soap opera.”

“House buyers have paid a subsidy to the house builders towards a school!”

“Thought the builders were meant to provide funds for school? Take it it’s same story as roundabout improvements!”
