‘No indication’ how long search for new Dons boss will take

-

INTERIM Aberdeen boss Paul Sheerin says he has had no indication from chairman Dave Cormack about how long the hunt for a new manager will take.

Sheerin, Barry Robson and Neil Simpson are in charge of the Dons as Cormack searches for a replacement for Derek McInnes.

A number of names have been linked with the post, including Atlanta United reserve coach Stephen Glass and former Hamilton Accies boss Alex Neil, who was sacked by Preston North End on Sunday.

Sheerin, Robson and Simpson could be in charge for the rest of the season.

Until told otherwise, Sheerin will continue to oversee first-team operations.

He said: “I am in touch with the chairman and he’s keeping me in the loop letting me know that the process is ongoing.

“He’s not given me any indication as to how long that process will take.

“He has told me if anything changes within the process that we as a staff will be first to know.

“We’ll just keep going until such time as we’re told differently.”

Following Saturday’s defeat by Dundee United at Tannadice, Sheerin has a couple of weeks to work with the Reds squad ahead of their next fixture which will be against either Dumbarton or Huntly in the third round of the Scottish Cup on April 3.

And there is plenty for Aberdeen to work on, having scored just once in 10 games.

Sheerin said: “We’ve got four players away on international duty so it becomes a bit more difficult to prepare with those four being away.

“But if you’re given time you keep working and keep trying to be more clinical in that final third and keep working on that to try to get better.”
