Goal hero Gullan says Rovers are full of belief

-

JAMIE Gullan has seen plenty of the downs as well as the ups of Raith Rovers’ recent struggles.

But, after hammering in the late winner against Morton to earn a vital victory in the hunt for a promotion play-off place, the Hibs striker is convinced the Stark’s Park men are ready to prove they are well and truly on the rise again.

Gullan’s first loan spell in Kirkcaldy ended with the disappointment of a play-off defeat to Queen of the South in 2019, but his goals in the first half of last season sent Rovers on their way to League One success.

Gullan, now in his third loan spell at Stark’s Park, said: “I don’t think many people at the start of this season would have thought we would be up where we are.

“I wasn’t here at the start, but the squad had the belief they could go on and pick up a lot of wins this season.

“They started the season well and we’ve kept it going recently. We’re confident in our game.”

Meanwhile, Arbroath suffered a frustrating defeat in the Highlands, with a Nikolay Todorov winner enough to secure the points for Neil McCann’s Inverness Caley Thistle.

In a game of few chances, the Lichties had the better chances in the first half before Todorov scored in the 70th minute.

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell said: “If you don’t create goals you are always vulnerable.

“Inverness deserved to win – they scored and we didn’t.

“I just feel sorry for my own boys. They should have got something out of the game.”
