Woman with cancer gets a wish from bucket list

- BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

A DUNDEE woman who is terminally-ill with cancer is set to meet stars of TV show Loose Women virtually – after revealing she is a fan of the show in her bucket list.

Sophy Mitchell, 30, has been given just six months to live after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Earlier this week she revealed how appearing on the ITV show is a dream of hers.

Now, producers of the show have contacted her to offer her the chance of a Zoom call with some of the stars.

She received a message from show bosses yesterday, inviting her to the chat.

It said: “I wanted to reach out after we were made aware of your story in The Courier.

“It is so lovely to hear that you are such a big fan of Loose Women.

“We are sending you lots of love and strength and would also like to get in touch to see whether you are available on Friday at 1.30pm – after our live show finishes – for a Zoom call.

“We would like to introduce you to some members of our team and there might even be some surprises thrown in too.”

Sophy does not yet know if the chat will be broadcast, but is happy that she will get to speak to some of the panellists.

She said: “I can’t believe it – I’m absolutely buzzing.

“I absolutely love the show and to know that I will be speaking in a live Zoom chat with the panel is incredible.”

Husband Kevin said: “Sophy is absolutely over the moon. This is something money can’t buy.

“She has been tired and a bit down since her treatment started on Monday but this has made such a huge difference to her.

“She is just so so happy to have received the invitation and can’t wait.

“Knowing Sophy and her big personality, who knows what will happen after the chat?

“She might even get an invite on to the programme itself.”

Sophy, who is still in Ninewells Hospital, began radiotherapy treatment on Monday.

She said: “The first attempt didn’t work, but after a few tears and tantrums attempt number two was successful.

“I’ve been tired since and have been sleeping on and off.

“I just so appreciate what everyone is doing for me.”

A fundraiser to help Sophy achieve her bucket list has raised more than £11,000.
