Tories have no idea of hardship

- TF

I AM of the opinion that in reality Rishi Sunak, who had a privileged upbringing, does not know what it is to be in the “less fortunate” category of everyday ordinary UK citizens.

Pictures of him and his wife have headlined recently stating their combined total financial worth of around £730 million.

This image is most unbecoming of a UK chancellor who is someone I do not believe to be sincere in expressing any sympathy for the less well off among us.

The majority of the current UK Government cabinet are known to be millionaires while other Conservative MPs can be classed as very well off. None of them may ever have experienced – or will ever experience – hardship, or poverty to put it another way.

I am not a die-hard Conservative Party supporter, but I cannot see any other political party fit to govern the country in these difficult times when so much, like business, is focused around finance.

Some may remember the outgoing Labour Party chief secretary to the treasury,

Liam Byrne, in 2010, leaving a cheeky handwritten note: “I’m afraid there is no money.”

His party had just been voted out of government and I find myself with no option other than to bite the bullet and put up with a Conservative party in power, albeit one which, in their opinion, has introduced harsh measures to counter inflation.

Their MPs, many of them millionaires like Rishi Sunak, do not genuinely understand how around 45% of households in Britain will experience daily hardships. Changed days from the 1950s and 60s when highest earners paid around 90% of their earnings in tax.

Well now, there’s a thought.
