Community can play part in social space design

-

THE North Inch and Muirton areas and tenants of Perth Creative Exchange are to play a part in creating a new social space in the grounds of the city’s creative hub.

Local residents, tenants and community groups are being invited to go along to Perth Creative Exchange next Friday to view and give their thoughts on initial design concepts developed by the project team. People can pop in between 1-4pm or 6-8pm.

The Perth Creative Exchange Pocket Places project is led by Sustrans Scotland, along with creative space provider Wasps, North Inch and Muirton Community Council and Perth and Kinross Council.

The designs are in response to the needs identified by project partners, tenants of Perth Creative Exchange and local people to improve the entrance ways for people on foot, bike or wheelchair.

The aim is to create a flexible event space with seating on the upper level and a community garden on the lower level.

Sustrans Scotland co-design project lead Lavanya Balasubramanian said: “Over the last two years, we’ve all experienced the importance and value of outdoor spaces in our neighbourhood where people can spend time together.

“We’ve taken feedback from tenants, residents, and project partners and developed designs for the grounds of Perth Creative Exchange that can provide this much-needed space in the community.

“We are excited to speak to tenants and residents about the proposals and encourage people to come along on Friday June 10 to view the designs and enjoy some outdoor activities.”
