Fury as The View tickets all sold out ‘in minutes’

- BY AMIE FLETT

FURIOUS fans have hit out after tickets to The View’s comeback gig in Glasgow sold out within minutes, despite two extra dates being added.

The Dundee band announced they will be returning to the stage together after a five-year hiatus at the beginning of this week.

Pre-sale tickets went live on Wednesday and Thursday, with general sales opening at 9am yesterday.

But fans have described the experience as “shocking”, saying tickets for the first date on December 16 sold out within seconds on the O2 Academy website.

A second on December 17 also sold out within minutes while most briefs have also been snapped up for a third show on December 18.

Due to demand, the band released a second date on their Twitter account just minutes after tickets for the first gig went on sale on the Gigs in Scotland website.

The tweet said: “Once again due to overwhelming demand we are announcing a third show.

“This means everything to us... thank you.”

But tickets to the second date, on December 17, quickly disappeared as the gig sold out within a matter of minutes.

The band then announced a third date on December 18, that went on sale at 11am.

Fans took to Twitter to share their frustration on missing out on tickets.

One tweet read: “Absolutely impossible to get tickets for The View – no queuing system, just sold out in seconds. “Shambles.”

Another tweet from @cburrell123 said: “I’ve been on Ticketmaster since 8.30 waiting for The View tickets to go on sale and clicked it as soon as it went live and there’s none. I don’t understand.”

One tweeter described the experience of trying to buy tickets as “brutal”.

He said: “Started searching for tickets for The View literally the second they went live. Nothing available. Brutal man.”

But some were lucky enough to secure tickets, including Gemma Trainor, who at first said she was “convinced there was no tickets to begin with” during the first sale.

She later tweeted to say she had managed to secure tickets to the second date.

Not all were as lucky, though, as fans have already began looking for re-sale tickets.

One man tweeted to say that despite three attempts to secure tickets, all had sold out within one minute.

The View will be playing at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on December 16, 17 and 18.
