Overnight work will close road

- BY BRIAN STORMONT

A SECTION of a Dundee road will be closed overnight for two nights as surfacing improvements worth £70,000 are carried out.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the A90 southbound at the Graham Street junction on the Kingsway, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin next Wednesday.

Work will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with it expected to be completed by 6.30am next Friday, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a lane closure with temporary traffic signals and a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. In addition, access to and from Graham Street junction will restricted overnight.

Road users wishing to access the A90 from Graham Street will be diverted on to Barnes Avenue then Old Glamis Road to A90 southbound (Kingsway).

For traffic wishing to access the Graham Street junction from the A90, the diversion will be on to Old Glamis Road then Barnes Avenue onto Graham Street.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the project to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north-east unit representative, said: “This £70,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the project overnight and removing traffic management during the day.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
