Van man in bus bash stramash

-

IT was a case of, ‘C’mon, get aff’ in 1965 when this bus and van went head to head at the top of West Nile Street.

With the polis having words with the bus conductor, left, the passengers had to decant in the middle of the street to complete their journeys by shanks’ pony.

The Daniel Duncan van, we believe, belonged to a of Fraser chain. Either way, we suspect it was curtains for the driver, or perhaps his boss would tell him to ‘pull himself together’.

Today, with the creation of the Royal Concert Hall and the Buchanan Street Bus station, and the demolition of the old Apollo, this part of the city is virtually unrecognisable from its 1960s heyday.
