Tigers’ hunt for points is over

glAsgow Tigers’ season is at an end after it was confirmed that their final fixtures will not be fulfilled.

The speedway side have not raced at home since september 28 after they were scuppered in three separate attempts to run outstandin­g matches against workington and Berwick.

sunday was the last time the Ashfield side would have been able to race the fixtures before this saturday’s season deadline.

Heavy rain put paid to that, and after governing body approval it has now been confirmed that the matches won’t be run.

That means the Tigers end the season in 11th place in the Premier league, only two above the bottom spot, but their 31-point haul is 22 better than last season.

Club director Derek smith said: “Clearly, having last staged a home fixture on september 28, it isn’t the manner in which we would all wish to bring down the curtain at the end of a full season of racing.”
