“We’re blessed with fantastic quality throughout the squad. What you could say last season is that we didn’t have players who had been there and done it at the top level.

“We’ve got a lot of young players who are probably capable of playing at a higher level as well.

“So it’s great to have these players on board with the experience they have had in their careers.”

As was the case on so many occasions last term, it was the Rangers forward line that took the plaudits as Stranraer were swept aside at Ibrox.

IT WAS never going to be a night where Foderingha­m would get a chance to impress as Rangers wrapped up their Group F campaign with a fourth successive clean sheet and ensured they would top the section with a perfect record.

But the keeper was satisfied with another beneficial outing as preparatio­ns continue for the big kick-off.

Foderingha­m said: “From the team’s point of view the first 45 minutes were probably the best we’ve played in a long time. Those nights are always difficult for goalkeeper­s.

“It was always going to be one of those type of games. It’s all about keeping your concentrat­ion.

“I’m looking forward to the new season – it’s a step up in class and another challenge for us. We feel we can compete.

“On a personal level, it’s a step up for myself – I’m ready for the challenge and thoroughly looking forward to it.”
