Lunna landing for Tigers ace after crash agony

- By PETER WEST

GLASGOW are hoping for a Lunna eclipse – as their Finnish flyer bids to block out his injury agony.

Nike Lunna is back in the side for the Tigers’ visits to Berwick and Redcar after seven weeks out with a broken bone in his hand.

He took his first spin on a bike since early June on Sunday, in his home country, scoring 11+3 from five heats.

And despite the fact the injury isn’t 100 per cent healed, the brave 19-year-old insists he’ll put that to the back of his mind and rejoin Glasgow’s bid to win a Premier League, KO Cup and League Cup treble.

Lunna said: “My first meet- ing back went well. My hand is still pretty painful – but I can handle it.

“It hasn’t fully healed yet but I can use it, so I can’t be off the bike. It’s been so boring over the last seven weeks – but now I am back and enjoying it even more.

“I’m back in the UK today and have my first meeting at Berwick on Wednesday.

“Then it’s Redcar on Thurs- day, on Friday I’m flying back to Finland for a meeting on Saturday, then on Sunday morning I’m back to the UK and straight to Glasgow for the meeting against Edinburgh.

“I’ve been looking for Glasgow’s results and it’s looking good – the team are doing well. I can’t wait to come back and to give 100 per cent for the Tigers all the way to the finals.”

Lunna will race at reserve for the first time this season after Coty Garcia’s promotion into the main body of the team - which could help ease him back into action.

He added: “It doesn’t matter what number I’m on now, I’m giving my everything. But of course, it will be easier to score points -–which is good for me and my wallet!”
