Oil workers’ strike

NORTH Sea workers have started the first 24-hour strike in almost 30 years after the failure to resolve a row over plans to cut pay and allowances.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union and Unite, employed by the Wood Group on Shell platforms, walked out at 6.30am yesterday, with further stoppages planned.
