One-match ban for Blues boss

- By CHRIS JACK

MARK WARBURTON has been offered a one-match ban by the Scottish FA after blasting referee John Beaton at Pittodrie.

The Rangers boss was furious with a controversial call from the whistler as he penalised James Tavernier for a foul on Dons winger Jonny Hayes in the last minute of the Premiership clash.

The 54-year-old has until Monday to respond and a principle hearing has been set for Thursday, October 13.

Rangers return to Premiership action when they face Partick Thistle this weekend but their preparations have been hindered after a Development League clash with Hibernian was abandoned on Tuesday.

Philippe Senderos, Rob Kiernan, Matt Crooks and Joe Dodoo all started at Auchenhowie but the match was called off at half-time after linesman Scott Love fell ill with chest pains.

Rangers, who were leading 2-1 at the break, and referee David Dickinson were happy for the action to continue but Hibs boss Eddie May refused and the game was cancelled.

A Rangers source said: “It’s annoying for Mark because he wanted to get minutes for the four lads.”
