Rugby stars to bare all for charity

-

RUGBY stars in Glasgow have pledged to pull up pink socks and then take off their strips in support cancer charities.

The GHK rugby club will take on Cartha Queen’s Park in a BT National League division 2 top of the table clash.

With no Glasgow Warriors game tomorrow, the eyes of the rugby community will be on Old Anniesland and the GHK players will be hard to miss tonight at 7.30pm.

The team will be wearing pink socks against Cartha in support of a campaign to raise awareness for the charity, Breast Cancer Care.

As well as fundraising on the night, the boys also plan to bare all as part of their charitable efforts.

Rugby charity Hearts and Balls, and the Beatson Cancer charity, are set to benefit from a naked calendar which was a smash hit last year.

Captain Hugh Parker, GHK’s number eight, said: “We have identified these charities as they are three close to our heart for a number of reasons.

“There’s a great community at the club and we can use that to raise money for people who need it most. Hopefully we’ll have a big crowd, all looking pretty in pink!

“It will be a busy weekend as we’ll be shooting our naked calendar, which has been sponsored by a number of fantastic businesses across the Westend of Glasgow. A win will help us all feel a little better about embarrassing ourselves.”
