Miller time for Kenny to lead the line after hitting the ton

-

KENNY MILLER scored his 100th goal for Rangers in the win over Inverness Caley Thistle on Friday night and I was delighted to see him reach the milestone.

It was a really important strike, and a very well executed one, as Rangers got a crucial three points in the Premiership.

Many people were surprised when Mark gave Kenny a new contract last year and I know a lot of fans would have seen him as a substitute in the Premiership.

The feeling was that he would start most games on the bench and then come on for the last half an hour and inject a bit of energy into the side and use his experience to help the team.

So to play as many times, and maintain the consistency, he has at his age is incredible. You have got to take your hat off to Kenny for that.

There are games where he maybe looked like he would only get an hour but he has lasted the 90 minutes and played a key role for the team.

Kenny is still a very important part of the forward line. Martyn Waghorn hasn’t been at the level he was last year and Barrie McKay has lost a bit of spark.

Then you have Joe Garner, who has only scored once, and Joe Dodoo, who has yet to hit the heights he would have hoped.

So Kenny is still a main man for Mark and, for me, he is a certainty to start against Celtic.

It is then a matter of players alongside him. I think it will be Waghorn and McKay.

But don’t be surprised if it is Kenny Miller who leads the way for Rangers once again this weekend.

He may be in the twilight of his career, but he is still a quality player and there is plenty more to come from him.
