Fond memories of paddle power

A TRIP on the Waverley is an unforgettable experience.

It must be 40 years since I first went on board but if I close my eyes I can still remember standing in the engine room.

The assault on the senses was total, the gleaming piston rods working back and forth, the smell of hot oil and the deafening, rhythmic thump of the paddles hitting the water on the other side of the hull.

It’s great to see the grand lady of the Clyde celebrating another birthday and still looking so well.
