Return will be the job takes shape...

these new players are. It would be wonderful if Rangers could get a run in the competition but we know how difficult it will be to get through the four qualifying rounds and into the group stages.

The last thing they want is to go out early doors as that would be a setback going into the new Premiership campaign.

The likes of Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Hearts and Hibs have had a crack at the Europa League in the last couple of sea- sons but they haven’t managed to make an impact and get through the qualifiers.

If Rangers could do it, it would be a huge lift for the manager, the players and the supporters. It would be a real boost for Scottish football as well.

But it is going to be very tough, we know that. Everyone at Ibrox will be realistic and they know there are some good sides lying in wait for them.

It is going to be hard for Rangers, Aberdeen and St Johnstone to do well in the Europa League, and Celtic face their own challenges trying to get into the Champions League.

It would be great if the Scottish co-efficient could be boosted once again because it would make it a bit easier for our sides to reach the group stages in future.

We need our teams to pick up results in these competitions and hopefully Rangers can play their part over the next couple of weeks.
