Benny on song for Zimbabwe

-

CELTIC starlet Kundai Benyu said he was stunned before his international debut for Zimbabwe...because his team-mates all started singing.

The former Ipswich man opted to play for the African nation and made his bow against Lesotho last week.

But the 19-year-old was stunned when, instead of the usual detailed pre-match preparation he’s used to with Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, they did things slightly different in Zimbabwe.

He said: “I was a bit taken aback when the boys started singing in the changing room just before the match against Lesotho.

“I was like ‘hey... what’s going on?’ because at Celtic usually all the players are quiet and focused before the match.

“But the singing was lovely, I couldn’t quite get the words and the tunes so all I did was clap hands and nod.

“It was a new experience and l would love to continue experiencing it.

“I am convinced we have talent in Zimbabwe. All we need to do is play a lot of games together and get to understand each other better.

“I really enjoyed it.”
