Gang attack on workmen

TWO workmen were attacked by a gang with weapons in Rutherglen on Saturday.

One of the workman, 30, was left injured following the attack at around 1.30pm.

Police say the two men were carrying out gardening work at an address in Brownsdale Road when they were approached by a group of five or six men who attacked them with weapons.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for an injury to his back, then later released.

His 36-year-old workmate managed to run away and was uninjured.

The only descriptio­n of the group of men responsibl­e at this time is that they were wearing dark coloured clothing.

Inquiries are continuing to gather more informatio­n on the men responsibl­e.

Detective Constable Stewart Walton is appealing to anyone who was in the area of Brownsdale Road around the time of the incident on Saturday afternoon and saw this group of men, or witnessed the assault to come forward.
