- By JACK HAUGH

THE line-up for this year’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival has been revealed, with more than 500 gigs across the city.

The Whyte & MacKay Glasgow International Comedy Festival returns for its 16th year and, from March 8, fans will get the chance to see stars such as Ed Byrne, David Baddiel and Katherine Ryan.

Home grown stars include Limmy, Iain Connell and Janey Godley.

Sarah Watson, Whyte & Mackay Glasgow International Comedy Festival director, said: “It’s always exciting to announce the line-up and this year is no exception.

“As the festival grows we are proud to showcase diverse voices, styles and art forms.”

Ruairi Perry, Head of Brand at Whyte & Mackay, said: “We are a brand with Glaswegian humour and heritage at our core.

“We are thrilled to be involved with such an iconic event and welcome the world to Glasgow.”

The laughs will be heard at over 54 venues across the city, including Drygate, the SSE Hydro, and the Old Fruitmarket.

As well as standup, there will be plays, sketches, improv and comedy for kids at a number of locations.

The festival will also be a part of Scotland’s Year of Young People and will stage a series of workshops for budding local comedians aged 16-25.

David McDonald, deputy leader of Glasgow City Council and chairman of Glasgow Life, said: “As we kick off the Year of Young People it’s fantastic to see workshops aimed at nurturing young comedic talent in the festival line-up alongside a whole host of shows featuring some of comedy’s brightest stars.”
