Bitton: We didn’t even get Nir PSG

- By MARK WALKER

NIR BITTON has admitted Paris StGermain were so good when they hammered Celtic 7-1 in the Champions League he thought they were playing a different sport.

And he revealed he even said a prayer every time Neymar ventured forward. The Hoops were destroyed in Paris and were also crushed at Parkhead as the French side put on a masterclass.

Bitton told Israeli TV: “When we lost 7-1 to PSG, I said to myself, ‘We are not even in the same profession as these guys.’

“We were sometimes able to steal the ball, but 90 per cent of the time they had possession.

“It’s a side with such quality you don’t come up against in every game.

“Every time Neymar ran at me, I said the Jewish prayer Shema Yisrael!”

Despite that experience, Bitton insists he is happy to see out his contract at Celtic after revealing Brendan Rodgers refused to sell him to Espanyol when he first arrived.

He said: “I feel great at Celtic. I am in my fifth season with the club. The first year was a bit hard for me, I did not play as much and it was hard to adapt myself to the British style and the Scottish League.

“The demands at Celtic are very high. The Scottish league is a deceptive league. Celtic are a much bigger club than those in the lower half of the Premier League.”
