Top school mourn­ing pupil death

A TEENAGE girl from East Ren­frew­shire has died af­ter be­ing taken to hos­pi­tal in Glas­gow.

The 16-year-old, who was a pupil at the pres­ti­gious St Ninian’s High School in Giffnock, died at the Queen El­iz­a­beth Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal in the early hours of yesterday morn­ing.

Po­lice said her death was not be­ing treated as sus­pi­cious.

A spokesman for East Ren­frew­shire Coun­cil said the school would not be is­su­ing a state­ment at this time.

A spokes­woman for Po­lice Scot­land said: “Po­lice were made aware at around 9.20am on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 14 of the death of a 16-year-old girl from the Giffnock area who had died at the Queen El­iz­a­beth Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal in the early hours of the morn­ing.

“A re­port will be sub­mit­ted to the procu­ra­tor fis­cal.”
