Top school mourning pupil death
A TEENAGE girl from East Renfrewshire has died after being taken to hospital in Glasgow.
The 16-year-old, who was a pupil at the prestigious St Ninian’s High School in Giffnock, died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Police said her death was not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for East Renfrewshire Council said the school would not be issuing a statement at this time.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Police were made aware at around 9.20am on Wednesday, February 14 of the death of a 16-year-old girl from the Giffnock area who had died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the early hours of the morning.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
