Hibs dealt John blow
HIBERNIAN’S hopes of catching Aberdeen and Rangers in the Premiership have been dealt a blow after star midfielder John McGinn was hit with a two-match ban.
The Scotland internationalist picked up his 12th yellow card of the season in Friday night’s 1-1 draw with St Johnstone, taking the 23-year-old over the Scottish FA’s disciplinary threshold for a second time this term.
McGinn will now miss the visit of Partick Thistle a week on Saturday and the rearranged meeting with Hamilton Accies three days later before returning to action for the trip to face Ross County that marks Hibs’ final game before the split.
Neil Lennon’s men are currently four points behind Aberdeen and, with the benefit of a game in hard, six adrift of second-placed Rangers and will be hoping to shrug off the loss of the influential McGinn at a key moment in the campaign.
