Doolan wants one for road in the Highlands

-

PARTICK THISTLE stalwart Kris Doolan insists the Jags must cure their travel sickness when they visit Inverness this weekend.

The Maryhill men have lost both of their Championship fixtures on the road this term, succumbing to a 2-0 reverse against Ayr United before a 3-1 defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice.

Those woes continued at Bayview last weekend when they crashed out of the Irn-Bru Cup as League 1 side East Fife shocked them 2-1.

It is in sharp contrast to Thistle’s displays at Firhill, which have seen them overcome Falkirk and Morton this term, and Doolan knows it is high time Alan Archibald’s side must correct their away form.

“We’ve been poor away from home so far this season and that has to improve,” Doolan said. “We have a stretch of games during which we can focus on climbing that table and finding a bit of form. The aim now has to be to put a consistent run together in the league. It’s very important that we don’t let the East Fife result knock our season off the rails.

“We played well against Morton and deservedly won so we have to be looking to build on that rather than dwelling on this shock for too long.

“We need to pick ourselves up because the games won’t wait. ”

Nevertheless, Doolan knows a massive improvement is required.

“The manager [Alan Archibald] spoke about treating the second half [against East Fife] properly and maintaining a certain intensity but we did the exact opposite,” he added.

“Our play was slow and lethargic, and there was no incision or drive.”
