R1 date beckons for music duo who have remixed star names

GLASGOW electro music DJs Illyus and Barrientos have been asked by Radio 1 in London to do an Essential Mix.

I can reveal exclusively that the lads, who have remixed Kylie and Calvin Harris and produce their own house music, will put their brilliant mix out on February 16 on the radio station.

The talented twosome, who I met at the fab Question Session music conference in Glasgow’s Lighthouse, are playing Asia, Australia, Croatia and Miami this year. Barrientos started his mixing life in his electricity cupboard and still works there, while Illyus has just got a super studio installed. Question Session was run by New College Lanarkshire and hosted a whole array of names from the music business from top music lawyers to sessions with Dj Vic Galloway, Wide Days and the Musicians Union.
