QE2 heroes get special event at new V&A
THE men who helped build one of the world’s most famous ocean liners will be celebrated at a special event.
Former shipbuilders who worked on the QE2 at John Brown’s yard in Clydebank will be speaking at the V&A in Dundee, which is currently hosting an exhibition celebrating Scotland’s ocean liners.
Brian Whittingham, Renfrewshire’s first Makar and a former shipbuilder, who worked on the famous ship, will be reading poetry from his novel, Bunnets n Bowlers, set in Clydebank shipyards, at the event on Wednesday evening.
There will also be representatives from the People’s Postcode Lottery, which has awarded more than £1 million to the V&A, which helped fund the exhibition, due to end on February 24.
