Restaurant’s beer garden hit with ban

-

LICENSING chiefs have stopped a restaurant near Glasgow from selling alcohol in its beer garden.

Andiamo in Milngavie received a visit from East Dunbartonshire Council officials on Monday who told its team that their current licence does not extend to outdoor drinking.

The eatery in the East Dunbartonshire town had previously been teasing fans in the run-up to the opening of the beer garden on Monday – but the ability to sell alcohol in the new facility has been halted.

Ann Davie, the council’s depute chief executive for business, said: “Council officers visited Andiamo on Monday to inform the business owner that they did not have permission on their current liquor licence for outdoor drinking.

“As a complaint has now been received from the proprietor it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”

Andiamo in Milngavie said that the premises is still open but it is just waiting on the green light from the council to sell alcohol in the gardens.

In a statement on its Facebook, the restaurant told customers: “Our outdoor dining area is fully open from 12 daily for food and drink.

“We are currently waiting on approval to sell alcohol. In the meantime, we are exploring the possibility of BYOB.

“Thank you to all who have joined us.”
