Two men to stand trial

TWO men are to stand trial af­ter be­ing ar­rested at protests on Glas­gow’s George Square.

George France, 20, and Kieran Christie, 24, al­legedly acted in a threat­en­ing or abu­sive man­ner in the city cen­tre on June 14 this year.

Pros­e­cu­tors claim the pair re­peat­edly “ran to­wards po­lice con­sta­bles and the lieges and acted in an ag­gres­sive man­ner”.

France and Christie pleaded not guilty at a hear­ing at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court to the charge.

A fur­ther hear­ing date was set for Septem­ber this year with the trial down for Oc­to­ber.

The two men were granted bail by Sher­iff Pa­tri­cia Pryce mean­time.

A 54-year-old man also charged is ex­pected in court at a later date.

Sev­eral protests have been held in Glas­gow dur­ing re­cent months as part of the world­wide Black Lives Mat­ter move­ment, for ex­am­ple.
