Johnny’s mum to lay wreath one year on

- BY RUTH SUTER

JOHNNY Connelly’s heartbroken mother has welcomed all to lay a wreath at Speirs Wharf canal on the first anniversary of his death.

The 28-year-old from Milton was first reported as a missing person before his body was recovered from the water at Spiers Wharf on July 22 last year.

In an emotional Facebook post, Johnny’s mum, Norah McCluskey, invited people to pay tribute to her son.

She wrote: “Can’t believe that’s Johnny passed a year next Wednesday.

“I will be going to lay a wreath at Spears Wharf canal next Wednesday at 2pm in memory of Johnny. All welcome.”

The circumstances surrounding Johnny’s death are still unknown as he was pulled from the water and had sustained serious injuries to his head and body.

During a six-month police investigation last year, more than 50 statements were taken by officers, while at least 40 people were spoken to.

Police believe Johnny may have been involved in an incident in an underpass at Garscube Road before he died.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
