Institute’s global network to meet at EAS conference in Edinburgh

Staff and students o the nstitute o A uaculture, at the University o Stirling, are looking to kick off a new academic year with a record attendance at the European A uaculture Society annual con erence.

The con erence is coming to the U or the first time and with it being located in Edinburgh, less than an hour rom the Stirling campus, nstitute staff and students have been working with the con erence organising committees to make sure that A uaculture Europe 2016 is a success.

Dr Andrew Davie, rom the Reproducti­on and Genetics group at the oA and one o the con erence programme co-chairs, said t has been a pleasure to work with the EAS and all the members o the steering and local organising committees to help shape AE2016.

This year’s theme is Food or Thought and we hope the programme and invited plenary speakers will do just that give delegates the ood or thought to ultimately help stimulate expansion across the sector.’

Many o the nstitute senior staff will be chairing sessions, ranging in subject rom globalisat­ion o the a uaculture industry to the latest advances in nutrition and disease research.

This year’s student president o the European A uaculture Society student group is Antonios Chalaris, a PhD student at the nstitute o A uaculture.

He has been helping to create an engaging student programme that will give the student body an opportunit­y to meet with industry mentors, while also building networks in interestin­g Edinburgh venues.

The nstitute will be exhibiting at stands 15 16 at the con erence trade show, where it will be promoting its wide range o training opportunit­ies and research activities.

Recently appointed deputy director o the nstitute, Pro essor Hervé Migaud, said We’re hoping or a si eable turnout o our alumni rom both the academic and commercial worlds.

’m looking orward to reconnecti­ng with other alumni, as well as the opportunit­y to network and explore potential collaborat­ion opportunit­ies.’

The nstitute will be hosting a lunch or alumni who will be attending the con erence. The intention is to celebrate the many years o research and teaching activity at the nstitute while also providing an insight into what the uture holds.
